  I found Earth Shakes to be an excellent resource for preparing survival kits for both earthquake and other natural disasters. This store is family owned and run, which I think makes it a very high quality merchant. They have been in business for 16 years.
  
  I first encountered their products through my workplace (University of California), where they apparently have supplied some earthquake survival supplies. I then visited their store in Burlingame and met Jeff, one of the owners. He was very friendly and helpful. He even loaded the trunk of my car with my purchases. I bought some pre-packaged kits for relatives (Family Deluxe for 5, and Deluxe for 2) as well several cases of water, food, and other supplies for my own home and cars. All the supplies had manufacturer dates indicating that were "fresh," meaning that I have essentially the entire 5 year shelf life. Hopefully, we will never need to use these supplies, and I certainly hope that Earth Shakes Inc will be around in 5 years when I need to replenish my food and water.
